Who We Are

When Jim Ward began Ward Engineering in 1981, he hired Sattar Tabriz as his first employee. Satter managed civil engineering, land development and statewide municipalities projects that brought Ward Engineering to the forefront of the Salt Lake City engineering community.

Sattar left Ward Engineering Group in 1987 to work for URS in Southern California where he gained vast experience with large-scale projects including water resources and transportation. Jim Ward recruited Sattar back to Ward Engineering in 1994 and by 1995 Sattar had taken over ownership of the firm.

In 1995, Brendan Thorpe joined Ward Engineering to manage municipal projects in UT and WY. In 2006 he became a principal of the firm. Brendan oversees land development and municipal projects.

Both Sattar and Brendan have only worked for one company in Utah – Ward Engineering. Sattar brings over 30 years of in-depth expertise, knowledge, and leadership to the firm, while also mentoring the employees and directing the firm to continued growth. Brendan has over 13 years of experience and oversees land development and municipal projects.

Ward Engineering includes an experienced team of engineers, drafters, and technical employees.
